Everybody's Garden is located at the corner of Elizabeth and Lytle streets, part of a playground and recreation area situated at the foot of the bridge over the railroad tracks. This is one of two gardens that serve the Riverside or Below-The-Tracks community. These corner lots have been tended since 2007 by Hazelwood resident Jim McCue, known locally as "Saint Jim the Composter", and offers a mix of raised beds for annuals as well as perennial features like apples, peaches, asparagus, and figs available to everybody!

The Glen Hazel Garden was founded in 2012 by the Glen Hazel Tenant Cooperative Council President Mike Wilson and the Urban Ag Team. The space is available for residents to grow food and features a composting station and a tool shed built by volunteers from The Mission Continues. The garden is located on Johnston Avenue at Roselle Court.

The two-acre Plaza at Hazelwood Green is the site’s first outdoor public space and the civic heart of the site. Construction of the Plaza is complete, and the space is now open for public enjoyment.

The Plaza was designed by Gustafson Guthrie Nichol (GGN) and incorporates input from focus groups that included Hazelwood neighborhood representatives, sustainability and park design experts, Hazelwood youth, and programming and event managers. The Plaza occupies a rectangular two-acre space south of the Mill 19 building and includes rain gardens, pollinator gardens, lawns, trees and native vegetation, and hardscape surfaces that will enable the space to accommodate a range of uses, public programs, and events. The focal point of the space will be a tiered water feature. Framed by shade trees, the water feature will offer a gentle flow of water, creating a tranquil spot for people of all ages to enjoy.

Originally built in 1943 to house munition production during World War II, Mill 19 is owned and under development by the Regional Industrial Development Corporation (RIDC).

The structure is being completed in three phases and the first tenants — Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM), Carnegie Mellon University’s Manufacturing Futures Initiative, Catalyst Connections — have moved into the first building (Phase A). The second building (Phase B) is also complete, and autonomous technology company Aptiv moved in in 2020.

The building houses several meeting spaces and conference rooms of various sizes, as well as the breathtaking outdoor venue: The South Porch. This space is located on Mill 19's South edge and offers built-in bleacher seating, picnic tables, event spaces, and unobstructed views of The Plaza.

The lot at the corner of Renova Street and Second Avenue is owned and maintained by Hazelwood's Morning Star Baptist Church, and has been the site of multiple community events in 2021, like a neighborhood clean-up and two Hazelwood Local Fall Minifests. Community members of the Church steward the space, allowing it for passive community enjoyment, as well as planned events. Prior to 2021, Pittsburgh organization Grounded Strategies activated the lot in partnership with the church.

The Hazelwood Greenway is one of the largest greenways of a total of 13 in the City of Pittsburgh. Currently, it's maintained by a group of volunteers, and it's the site of frequent neighborhood programming, like Arts Excursions Unlimited's annual Scary Hike around Halloween! In February 2021, the Trust for Public Land announced a $50,000 investment to start up the City's Greenway Stewardship Program. This program will be piloted in Hazelwood, offering the opportunity for the City and neighborhood organizations like Hazelwood Initiative to work together to widen the trails, stabilize the trail's slopes, and improve accessibility.

Originally built by the Monongahela Connecting Railroad circa 1887 and formerly owned by Jones & Laughlin Steel and later LTV Steel Company, the 10-bay Roundhouse and turntable was used to stabilize train engines for servicing and to redirect the materials they carried through the processes of production and on to final distribution.

The Spartan Center is a community center in Hazelwood that offers rental space for events like weddings, meetings, birthday parties, and more. The community center also houses multiple organizations within the neighborhood, like Arts Excursions Unlimited. The parking lot of the community center is used over the summer by Arts Excursions Unlimited for the Hazelwood Flea Market.
