• The ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute is a Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII) funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and part of the Manufacturing USA® network.

    The ARM Institute leverages a unique, robust, and diverse ecosystem of consortium members and partners across industry, academia, and government to make robotics, autonomy, and artificial intelligence more accessible to U.S. manufacturers large and small, train and empower the manufacturing workforce, strengthen our economy and global competitiveness, and elevate national security and resilience. 

  • Arts Excursions Unlimited is dedicated to increasing the cultural connectivity of the citizens of the greater Hazelwood community. The project is community-owned. AEU is facilitated by artist Edith Abeyta.

  • The first and only African American, minority, family-focused Autism 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to provide education, support, advocacy, and empowerment, with an emphasis on self-care to families of those diagnosed with Autism.

  • Founded in 1899, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh-Hazelwood has been a part of the Hazelwood community for a long time. Our mission is to engage our community through literacy and learning. Through our library, the people of our region will develop the literacies and connections that support individual achievement and strengthen the power of community.​ We share a community space with Greater Hazelwood Family Center, feature local art by Homestead artist David Lewis and provide unique reading programs like Reading Buddies from Hazelwood Reads Together.

  • Catalyst Connection is a private not-for-profit organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We provide consulting and training services to small manufacturers in southwestern Pennsylvania, accelerating revenue growth and improving productivity. Catalyst Connection forges partnerships that bring new resources and continually add new services to meet clients’ needs and expand business opportunities. Through focusing on people, products, process, and technology, we create solutions that benefit your entire organization and operations.

  • Founded in 2002 by Tim Smith, Center of Life (COL) stands with the people of Hazelwood as they strive to be strong and to make their community strong. With its roots planted deeply in the community and supported by extraordinary partners, Center of Life serves Hazelwood and its surrounding communities with rich academic out-of-school programs and outstanding experiences in music and arts. Center of Life employs a holistic approach to community through all of its programs, believing that commitment to others is most productive when you walk with those served in their schools, homes and families.

  • Community Kitchen Pittsburgh uses food as the foundation to change lives and strengthen communities by providing culinary training and job placement services to adults experiencing barriers to employment. CKP offers workforce development programs and job placement services that are designed to support individuals find and maintain stable, higher than entry-level positions in the food service industry.

  • The Council of Three Rivers American Indian Center was initially conceived in 1969 when members of two Native American families in Pittsburgh sought to overcome the feeling of "floating" in the mainstream. They felt the need to maintain a sense of Indian-ness, recapture roots and become more conscious of their rights as Native Americans. In February 1972 after several years of planning the Council was incorporated as a non-profit organization under the laws of Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Internal Revenue Service regulations. The Council was to operate from offices in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh until July ,1976 when it moved to its present headquarters in Dorseyville, Indiana Township.

    Entities include:

    1) The Great Hazelwood Family Center located at 5006 2nd Ave.

    2) Early Head Start Classroom and Home Visiting Services - Serving Families with pregnant mothers and children birth to 3 years of age located at 4910 2nd Ave.

    3) Head Start Classroom Serving Families ages 3 to 5 years of age located at 4900 2nd. Ave.

  • Hazelwood Initiative (HI) is a 501c3 nonprofit actively working against the growing threat of gentrification posed by the redevelopment of the former LTV Coke Works site, now known as Hazelwood Green. HI's mission is to build a stronger Hazelwood through inclusive community development. To achieve this goal, the organization preserves and creates affordable residential and commercial spaces, keeps residents informed about proposed developments and critical issues, manages community gardens and greenspaces, and advocates for equitable transportation access.

  • The Hazelwood Urban Agriculture Team is dedicated to promoting and supporting sustainable food sovereignty and food security initiatives in our community. Our primary project is the new Community Garden located at 4713 Chatsworth Ave, where we are offering bed-allotments for residents and neighbors. We also steward additional community gardens located at the corner of Elizabeth and Lytle Streets, known as "Everybuddy's Garden," and the "Glen Hazel Community Garden" on Imogene/Johnston Ave. We meet monthly at one of our garden sites (or at the Library in the colder months) and hold workshops or teach-ins periodically through the year. 

  • In the neighborhood of Hazelwoood, involveMINT is conducting a circular economy operation involving food recycling and community currency. Our process is simple. We collect food waste from people's homes, neighboring organizations such as Holy Cross Family Church, local businesses such as Dylamato's, and employing local residents to compost the food waste. We then use the compost to grow fresh and healthy food that will be distributed back to neighborhood residents and businesses. We are using community currency as a means to facilitate these operations; growing the economy to promote green jobs and sustainable practices without relying solely on traditional funding streams.

  • JADA House International Inc. was established October 27, 2014, a faith-based community outreach nonprofit ministry that provides a space for people of all ages, adults, teenagers (13-18), and the Jr’s (6-12) to discuss their social and spiritual challenges. We also provided a series of community outreach programs, “Blast Off” (backpacks and school supplies), senior luncheons, and Love Gift Giveaway (Toy Drive).

  • We encourage community, leadership, ownership, friendship, invested interest in the future of our children, and support Greater Hazelwood's growth into a thriving, safe and enjoyable place to live and raise families.

  • Propel Hazelwood opened in August 2014 serving 200 scholars in grades K-4. Now, in 2021, we have expanded to grades K-8 and serve approximately 300 scholars. Propel Hazelwood is a designated community school that provides well-rounded educational opportunities, health and wellness programming, and other support to scholars, families, and community members.

  • The Three Rivers Village School is democratically run school where students self direct and are not segregated by age or ability. We are a private school dedicated to being accessible to families of all income levels who want their child to participate in a unique and empowering education model. 

  • Main ST is invested in increasing economic opportunities for the underrepresented as well as preparing a new generation to become economic contributors by improving competencies in media, marketing, and technology (MMT).
