Grounded Strategies works to improve the social, economic, and environmental health of distressed and transitional communities by building capacity to reclaim vacant and underutilized land. One of the legacies of Pittsburgh’s population decline are thousands of vacant lots. Vacant land in our region represents a complex environmental challenge that disproportionately burdens low income communities and communities of color. Restoring vacant land for productive use improves community health while creating economic and environmental benefits.
